hot air

I've been on holidays and doing very little worthwhile activity for a disgustingly long period of time now. Over the last few weeks, there's been a change in the atmosphere. I no longer feel alone. The holiday season has set in, and everyone now seems to be well and truly immersed in a slovenly mindset.

The weather's been clear, warm and muggy. Perfect for lazing around at the beach. The flies are out, and bushfires are starting to burn. I spent a relaxed Christmas day in Newscastle with family. There was too much food for everyone to eat, so I had a great day... A friend is visiting from Germany. She said that it was -5 degrees Celcius in her home town when she boarded the plane. Apparently the mercury reached 45 degrees in Sydney today, a bit of a change from icy Europe. We went to the Blue Mountains on Friday, and I must have lost around 5 litres of sweat hiking around in the bush... I didn't get home until around 7am today. I spent an enjoyable New Year's Eve at Dan's place. Andrew threw a couple of paper planes off Dan's 24th floor balcony during the night... My hair is thick and matted with salt water after having gone to the beach with my sister and some friends in the afternoon. We threw green algae at each other in the rock pool at Curl Curl.

The weather is sweltering and the days are melting together. This is my first real summer holiday in years.
