realignment

I think my brain's starting to balance out again. The right side was beginning to shrink from disuse, but thankfully the drawing class that I'm taking seems to be giving it some much needed exercise. I haven't had the time to do any serious drawing for a while, but the next two weeks are going to be a non-stop drawfest. I can already feel the little subtleties that make life real starting to creep back into the way I see things, everything's becoming less disjointed and far more coherent. Things are becoming less categorized and more whole. I must be sounding like a nut again... here's a sketch of a man leaning on a pole that I did in class today (click). It didn't feel like he had to be classified into arms, legs, a skull or anything else when I drew him, the whole figure seemed to say a lot more. The world feels a lot fuller when I'm seeing things properly.

After my drawing class finishes, I'll be heading off to Tasmania. We'll be walking the Tasman Coastal Trail, near Port Arthur. Along the trail, we'll see places named Tornado Ridge, Corruption Gully, Purgatory Hill and Hurricane Heath. We'll see Australia's highest vertical sea-cliffs, and apparently the track occasionally runs unfenced a step or two away from 200m vertical drops into the Tasman Sea.

For the walk, I think I've come up with a really promising, original concept. I reckon it'd be awesome if we shot a movie based on our wanderings in the wilderness. We could do something really scary like pretend we were being hunted down by a witch or something, and the movie would be doubly frightening because the footage would appear to be genuine. I've even taken the liberty of creating a movie poster. Think it'll work?
