don't fear the reaper

Hey again blog. So, what's been happening?

Huh, you're not making much sense. Your continued existence depends upon ongoing attention, you say? Without my love and care your very being will wither away and die, leaving behind a mere shell of old posts for people to stare at and remember you by? You don't want to be a shell, you say? You fear the void? You don't want to spiral into oblivion, slowly losing track of what you were until one day, at some indiscriminate point, your continued silence will no longer be mere silence; you will have crossed the border into death?

I'm sorry, blog. I'm sorry, calm down. Sssshhh. It's OK. You're still here.

It's inevitable you say? I can say whatever I want, but it's going to happen some day? I'm being unrealistic, I can't hide it from you, I'm the one that's insane; one day you'll be gone?

I can't argue with you there. Sssshhh. Calm down, though. You're still here. I just wanted to catch up. Sssshhh, it's alright, it's alright. I'm sorry, we can catch up properly another day. You're still here, we can mull over that.

safety first

When entering the USA we had to fill out a little green sheet of paper. The questions were meant to help authorities weed out terrorists or other objectionable characters, so that the USA could remain safe.

The questions were super great, so I kept a copy. I particularly liked question "C", which read as follows:

Answer Yes or No

Have you ever been or are you now involved in espionage or sabotage; or in terrorist activities; or genocide; or between 1933 and 1945 were involved, in any way, in persecutions associated with Nazi Germany or its allies?

□ Yes □ No

kayaking

I hammered my paddle into the sea; clear water flicked up out of the ocean and splashed my face. Sun melted into my skin. Light sparkled on the water.

My friends' distant, cheerful shouts carried towards me as I churned my little boat through the water.

I feel so happy these days.
